LOFT AGM 2007
11/30/2007

LOFT's AGM took place on Thursday 22 November at the Supporters Club, attended by some 60 O's fans, many of whom were LOFT members or who joined as a result. Following the business of the AGM, a lively question and answer session took place with the club's manager Martin Ling, and assistant manager Dean Smith.

In the formal AGM business, the audit arrangement was approved again by the meeting, approving an Independent Examination of the accounts to 31 May 2008 in place of a full audit. Jan Treacher was elected to the committee, while Roger Cook and Vicki Kaye were re-elected after standing down under LOFT's Rules. The Vice Chair delivered the Chairman's Report, which will be posted here shortly.

During the session with Martin Ling and Dean Smith, the Orient management duo answered a number of questions from the standing-room only crowd, and write-ups of these will be appearing in fanzines in due course. Among the highlights were:

  • Ling would have Luke Guttridge back if he wanted to come
  • Tamika Mkandawire could easily play in the Championship
  • Having family members who are pigeon fanciers drives Lingy mad!
  • Michael Simpson was always the first name on the team sheet
  • The picture of Lingy & Deano celebrating the winning promotion goal at Oxford is Deano's screensaver
  • It would take "something phenomenal" for Ling to move away from Orient

As always, Martin and Dean were direct and honest in their answers, and didn't disappoint their audience.

LOFT extends its thanks to the Supporters Club for hosting the evening, to Matt Porter and Leo Tyrie for helping set up and promote the meeting, and especially to Martin Ling and Dean Smith for taking the time out to be our guests for the evening.
