FSF petition handover
10/4/2011

LOFT and the Leyton Orient Supporters Club have formally handed over the Save Orient petition, hosted by the Football Supporters' Federation on behalf of both organisations which are affiliate members of the FSF. The FSF have consistently supported the Orient case for the Olympic Stadium decision to be overturned and the affect on our club to finally be considered.

The presentation took place on the pitch at half-time in last Saturday's home match against Preston North End. The petition was handed over to Jennette Arnold OBE, Chair of the London Assembly, and Assembly member for the Leyton area, by Supporters Club chair David Dodd and LOFT chair Doug Harper.

The petition urges the Mayor of London to reconsider the endorsement of the West Ham United's proposed move to the Olympic Stadium. It has been signed by nearly 4,000 fans of some 130 clubs, from Celtic to Torquay and Arsenal to Bognor Regis Town. Many who signed were worried that the apparent disinterest from everyone concerned at the affect on an unfashionable club like Orient could one day affect their club as well.

Jennette will be passing the petition to the Mayor in a session of the GLA in a couple of weeks' time.

Both LOSC and LOFT would like to record their thanks to all the fans who signed the petition, and to the FSF and to Jennette for their support for the club throughout the discussions. The Supporters Club and LOFT websites will continue to carry information about the fight against the planned West Ham move as things develop.
