Kick It Out Day, 13/10/01
8/5/2003

On 13 October Leyton Orient Fans' Trust, in conjunction with LOCSP, the Police Community Safety Unit and the club took part in raising the profile of kicking racism out of football. The action taken was part of a national week of action by the majority of clubs. For the first time, the club have given an indication that they intend to commit to this scheme and work with organisations involved with the club to rid it of the problem of racism. People will be aware of the National Front literature often found in the south stand and the historical problem of racism within the ground.

After a series of meetings with LOSCP and the club, Orient agreed to promote Kick It Out day by parading a banner round the ground and allowing the players to wear t-shirts with the Kick It Out message on them. They have also told LOFT that they will be working more closely with the local community and kicking racism out at Leyton Orient. LOFT will be working with the club on this to support them in their work.

LOFT members gave out badges, fanzines and stickers outside the ground. The majority of people responded well to this, but this is only the beginning of a longer programme.
