Doug in a dress! (January 2002)
8/5/2003

"If he plays 10 games for us, then I will turn up at his tenth game wearing a dress!!!". You should always be careful of making bets with strangers, particularly over 200 strangers on an email list with an archive facility. This did not deter LOFT Chair Doug Harper from making the above statement about young loan signing Mikele Leigertwood.

Unfortunately for Doug, Leigertwood played exactly 10 games for Orient before returning to Wimbledon; therefore he was not even present at the Cheltenham match (on the 19th January) to watch the most public face of LOFT make a complete idiot of himself. (Incidentally, there was much speculation that the fact that Leigertwood played precisely 10 games was down to the fact that Doug mentioned his bet to Barry Hearn…) After a week of agonizing what to wear, he chose a flattering pink number - click here for the full picture.

However, Doug was determined that his embarrassment wouldn't be in vain, and announced that he would be inviting people to pledge money to the Little Haven Children's Hospice in Essex. The response was tremendous, and in just under a week he managed to raise £376. Doug would like to thank everyone who pledged money and supported him on the day.
