Stadium remains a Community Asset
12/10/2020

The Leyton Orient Fans' Trust (LOFT) has successfully renewed its nomination of the Breyer Group Stadium as an Asset of Community Value.

ACV status is granted by the local council following an application by a community group, on the demonstration of delivering social benefit and community value to the local community. LOFT originally obtained ACV status from Waltham Forest council for the stadium in 2015, which needs to be renewed every 5 years.

As well as offering a community 'right to bid' should the stadium ever be put up for sale, being listed as an ACV also formally recognises that the visible presence of Leyton Orient helps further the social wellbeing and social interests of the local community.

The Breyer Group Stadium is just one of over 40 stadia up and down the country that have been successfully listed as community assets, from non-league grounds up to Anfield and Old Trafford.

Commenting, Leyton Orient Chief Executive Danny Macklin said: "The club is happy to support LOFT's application for renewing ACV status on the Breyer Group Stadium, and is committed to a long-term future in the borough."

LOFT's secretary Jonathan Kaye added: "LOFT sees ACV status as important, and not only because of the community 'right to bid'. It reinforces that Leyton Orient is a source of civic pride and an important part of the local community, which can only help the club as it looks to increase support from the local area. Our thanks to Danny and Nigel Travis for their support of our application."
