MP praises LOFT's work (July 2002)
8/6/2003

Harry Cohen, MP for Leyton and Wanstead, has praised LOFT's work in a recent edition of the Waltham Forest Guardian.

The MP, who has also agreed to be a Co-opted Member of the Board, commended our promotion of greater fan involvement with the Club, and applauded our anti-racism work.

Speaking at the LOFT AGM on the 8th July, Mr Cohen mentioned that he had tabled a question in Parliament about Supporters' Direct, the umbrella organisation for Fans' Trusts, and he expressed his belief that more fan involvement in the running of clubs was a healthy trend.

He also said that he was very supportive of Orient and tried to help the Club wherever he could, for example with the Eastway issue, and with the appeal for a work permit for Donovan Ricketts. He believes that there is great scope for the club to become more directly involved in the local community, and praised LOFT for its initiatives in this direction.
