LOFT sponsorship activity 2002-03
8/7/2003

Under LOFT's broad objectives to

  • benefit the community through the promotion of football as a recreational activity, and
  • help provide, maintain and preserve facilities for the enjoyment of professional football
we assisted several causes during 2002-03:

For the second year running LOFT sponsored the Barking College Culture Week 5-a-side football competition. The Culture Week, which took place in October 2002, is an annual college theme week designed to further students' understanding and tolerance of other cultures. LOFT sponsored two trophies: - The under-16s, won by the Compass students, and an over-16s, won by the PTD Electrical Installation students.

This year's co-sponsor was Kick It Out who provided T shirts for all the winners. LOFT provided trophies and medals for the winners and runners up. LOFT was also instrumental in getting Simon Downer, Matthew Joseph and Aaron Maclean to open the History of Black Footballers exhibition and provide a signed shirt and football for the competition. LOFT provided the second prize of a United Colours of Orient T shirt.

LOFT sponsored a page in 'Yellow & Blue', the matchday programme for AFC Wimbledon's first ever home league match in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, conveying our best wishes.

We also sponsored a player's kit for the Leyton Orient Girls Centre of Excellence.

LOFT's sponsorship to Leyton Orient FC this year was for 'clean sheets' kept by the first team and the youth team.

These sponsorships were made possible through additional and specific contributions made by some members. Thanks very much to all who contributed.
