Club response to LOFT questions
5/19/2015

LOFT has received a response from club CEO Alessandro Angelieri to some of our outstanding questions.

Regarding newspaper reports in Italy and the UK that Francesco Becchetti is considering selling the club, he says he is as surprised as anyone that The Standard printed the story. It obtained the story from an Italian newspaper article that contained what he described as "many mistakes", such as that Becchetti would sell the club for nothing.

Alessandro affirms that Becchetti is working hard to find a new manager, and that they are working on rebuilding the team for the next season. Players whose contracts expire in the summer have not been re-signed due to Football League rules which state that clubs have to decide if they want to renew contracts. Until a new manager is in place the club honestly does not know who he would want to keep or let go.

The new manager will decide who he wants to keep; any players who he decides to keep will be contacted immediately to discuss new contract offers. This has been explained to the players at a meeting.

While this answers some of our questions, there remain others over the ongoing stability of the club and Becchetti's long-term plans. LOFT continues to press for greater communication and clarity from the club's owner, as set out in our recent statement.
