Football Fans have condemned the award of a CBE to Granada Chief Executive, Charles Allen.

The Co-Chairman of the Football Supporters Federation, Malcolm Clarke said " By his actions in failing to honour the financial obligations of ITV Digital to football, Charles Allen did immense damage to League Football clubs - the effects of which are now being felt with increasing numbers going into administration - the people who work for them, the communitities in which they are located and the thousands of people who watch the game each week. He is not worthy of an honour. In fact, he's worthy of a dishonour, which is why we included him in our own list of new year's dishonours"

The Football Supporters Federation has announced its own list of New Year's Honours and Dishonours for services and disservices to football during 2002.

Honours

• Roger Godsiff M.P for promoting his Private Members Bill to allow safe standing at football grounds
• Niall Quinn for donating the proceeds of his testimonial game to charity
• David Conn of the Independent for outstanding investigative journalism into the real problems of football
• David Burns former Chief Executive of the Football League, for his vision about the future of the game and for supporting new models of club ownership and greater redistribution of income

• Douglas Craig former chairman of York City and still Chairman of Bootham Cresent Holdings, which owns the ground - for asset-stripping that club and placing its future in jeopardy, for personal profit.
• Charles Koppell for totally ignoring the views of Wimbledon fans by taking the club to Milton Keynes and creating 'franchise football' in England
• Paul Scally for abusing his power and acting like a playground bully by banning Alan Liptropp from the Priestfield Stadium
• Karren Brady of Birmingham City for exploiting away fans and being the only club ever to impose an administrative surcharge on their own fans for tickets to a final
• The Premier League Chairmen for the continued collective greed of their clubs, and the gross maldistribution of income in which is destroying the pyramid structure of the game
• Charles Allen and Michael Green of Carlton and Granada for failing to hounour their obligations to the Football League, whilst continuing to support the Premiership, which has contributed to the financial crisis in football.
